Charles E., BRIMM M.D. Dr. Charles E. Brimm. Age 85, of Camden died Jan. 28, 2010 in Lourdes Hospital Camden. He was a 1942 graduate of Camden High. Doris M. MILLER, Age 81 of Camden passed away on January 16, 2010. She was a 1947 graduate of Camden High. Alice Davis Lovett, the daughter of the late Mary Lawson and Morris Davis entered quietly into eternal rest Thursday evening, December 25, 2009. Alice was born in Camden, New Jersey February 3, 1913, preceded in death by her twin brother Alfonso John Davis. She was married to her late husband Thomas Lovett for over 25 years. Alice was educated in the Camden City Schools graduating from Camden High in 1935. She later attended Glassboro State as a part time student After graduating from college she taught Special Education in both the Philadelphia and Camden City School Systems. She was a faithful member of Macedonia AME Church. She leaves to cherish her legacy her Special Nephew Stefan "Steppie" Conyer his wife Lisa and their daughter Mollei, Nieces Norma Conyer and Johanna Conyer, Casei Mann, and a Special Cousin Blanche Pierce and a host of loving family and friends. Joseph F. ZITO, Sr. on November 11, 2009, after an extended illness, of Mt. Laurel formerly of Cherry Hill. Age 62. Beloved husband of Barbara Zito (nee Brooker). Loving father of Joseph F. Zito Jr. (Michelle), Bret Fisher (Marcela) and Candice Cohen (Christopher) and loving grandfather of Samantha Cohen. He is the beloved son of Anne (nee Lauria) and the late Dominick Zito. Shirley E. Parker McGUIRE, Dearly loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin passed away on Nov 7 at home in Panorama City, CA after a lengthy illness. She was 59. Born in Camden, NJ, she graduated from Camden High 1968, and earned her B.S. in Education from Southern Illinois University. Shirley moved her family to Panorama City, CA where she taught adult education. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa McGuire of Palmdale, CA, son, Jeremy McGuire, USAF of Sacramento, CA, four grandsons, Jordan, Sean, Demetrius, and Jayden. Her sisters, Carolyn Williams of Pt Hueneme, CA, Laverne Penn of Palmdale, CA, nephews Brian (Mona) Isler, USN, and Kenny (Lissa) Isler, nieces, Arisha (Ravi) Ali, and Radiah Williams, also a host of relatives, friends and students. Keith Edward Cheek Sr.
Keith Edward Cheek, Sr. Age 49, of Camden, NJ, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. He was the husband of Hope Corbin Cheek. Born March 19, 1960 in Camden he was the son of the late Lorraine Cheek Bowman. Keith attended the Camden Public Schools, a member of the graduating Class of 1978. Notably in high school, he was an offensive left tackle, a position that made him a star football player. He continued his education at Cheyney and West Virginia Universities as a Psychology major. His education coupled with life experiences prepared him for his most cherished position as a Technician 2 at the Kennedy Health System's Behavioral Unit for Children. Keith had the ability to see the good in all of the children, no matter how challenging their behaviors. Keith's commitment and efforts one earned him Employee of the Year. But Keith would say that his greatest accomplishment in life was being an outstanding family man. He married the love of his life, Hope in 1993. Life only became more fulfilling with the birth of their only child, Keith, Jr. in 1999. Keith was an attentive husband and father who loved to travel with his family in and out of the country. A common thread through every aspect of Keith's life was that he touched so many lives through his kind words and deeds and most especially his courage. Keith became ill in July 2009. In between hospitaliza-tions, he continued to do the things that defined who he was; family, travel, his son's sports, and work. Keith fought a good fight, he kept his faith. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Hope; son, Keith, Jr. both of Camden; his sibling, his twin, Kevin Lee Cheek, Sr. (Rosalind) of Virginia Beach, VA, Merritt Bowman Dept-ford, NJ, and Synee Diggs (Eric) of Laurel, MD; his parents-in-law, William and Barbara Corbin of Berlin, MD; his special aunt, Emma Jones of Berlin, MD; brothers-in-law, Van Kevin Corbin (Regina) of Leesburg, VA, and Brian Corbin (Sue) of Pittsburgh, PA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friend. Anthony Ray " Putone" Sabir" Colon, Age 26- of Camden, NJ., departed this life and went home to his Creator on September 14, 2009, at Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital in Camden. He was born January 16, 1983, in Camden, NJ, graduated from Camden High School and attended Camden County Community College. He was a member of the Islamic Community. Gregory W. Singleton. Age 59, of New Bern, NC passed away on July 22, 2009 peacefully at his home. Mr. Singleton was born and raised in Camden, NJ. He was a graduate of Camden High School in 1967 and then attended and graduated from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. Having an impressive football career as a running back while at Catawba, in 1986 he was honored and inducted into the Football Hall of Fame. He furthered his education at Rutgers University in Camden, NJ receiving his Master's in Education. Mr. Singleton was a teacher, football coach and an administrator for the Camden Board of Education for many years. He ended his career as a Vice Principal at Haddon Heights High School and retired in 2002. Mr. Singleton was also a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Gordene "Deanie" Singleton; one son Gregory R. Singleton and his wife LaJuan, of Upper Marlboro, MD; two daughters Carly and Brooke Singleton, both of New Bern, NC; two brothers Raymond Jones and wife Jeanette, of Winslow, NJ, and Mark Jones and wife Marlinda, of Pennsauken, NJ; one sister-in-law, Joanne Olivera of Pennsauken, NJ; and four grandchildren Taylor Singleton, Che and Desi Singleton and Mbali Mduma as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will hold a memorial service at 11am. on Tuesday, July 28th at St. Matthews United Methodist Church 1665 Derousse Ave, Delair, NJ. Kim Dorothy Thomas passed away on July 9, 2009 at the age of 49. . Kim was educated in the Camden Public School system and graduated from Camden High School in 1977. She continued her formal education by attending Camden County College, earning an associate degree in Business Administration in 1997. Kim also became a CNA (certified nursing assistant). Her furst love was always the children. Besides raising her three children, Denita, Alex and Tyree, she was a mother to many of the children living in her south Camden neighborhood. For many years she operated an in-home daycare business. Kim was active in the PTA, school bake sales and served as trip chaperone on many occasions.


She was a dynamic force in her community. She worked as a poll worker with the Camden County Board of Elections, served on the board of the Camden County on Economic Opportunity (known as OEO) for many years until her illness. Her favorite hobbies were shopping, dancing, traveling and trying new cuisines at various eateries in South Jersey. Kim was funerlized on July 16, 2009. The Interment took place at Harleigh Cementary, Camden, NJ

Walter Meaty Birdsong passed recently. He was a member of the Class of 1962. Hamilton M. Medina. He was a member of the Class of 1966. Age 61, of Rotonda West, Florida died Friday, April 17, 2009 at home. He was born September 5, 1947, in Puerto Rico, and moved to Rotonda West, from Glassboro, New Jersey, in 2002. He was a retired cable splicer for Verizon Telephone Co. Hamilton was a member of the Suncoast Worship Center Church of God of Englewood, and the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the VietNam War. Survived by his wife, Maria Medina of Rotonda West, FL; two daughters, Melanie Baker of Tallahassee, FL and Stephanie Bailey of Raleigh, NC; three sisters, Evelyn Medina, Yvonne Ramirez both of Puerto Rico and Enyd Medina of Rhode Island; 7 grandchildren, Rachel, Julian, Christine, Lisa, Terrell, Jr., Angelysa and Gregory Jr. Visitation will be at the church Wed. from 10 AM until service time. Funeral services will be held Wed. 11:00 AM at the Suncoast Worship Center Church of God, 881 S. River Road, Englewood, FL 34223. Rev. Phillip Williams will officiate. Interment with military honors by the U.S. Army will follow Wed. 2:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL.
